Where to Stay in Lima

Finding accommodation in this cosmopolitan city is not difficult, as several options are available including luxury, business and tourist-class hotels, serviced apartments, bed and breakfasts and lower range motels and hostels.

Lima is a popular tourist destination, with the peak tourist season being in summer. During this time, the city is crowded with tourists and invariably prices of goods and hotel rates rise accordingly. It is always best to pre-book your accommodation early if you plan to visit Lima during the summer.

The most popular areas to stay in Lima are in San Isidro and Miraflores. San Isidro is a business and residential district. Here, there are numerous hotels, ranging from the most luxurious to three-star establishments. They are mostly modern and offer good amenities. The area is categorized by parks, plazas and is one of the safest areas in Lima. It is also a very cosmopolitan area.

Miraflores is a modern suburb situated very close to the center of the city. Many of the hotel rooms here offer good views of the sea. The area has a fantastic nightlife scene and is populated with cafes, restaurants and gift shops. The area is not quite as safe as the San Isidro area, but it is still a wonderful place to find a hotel and experience Peruvian hospitality.

The city center is less than an hour’s drive from the airport and therefore many travelers, even those on a day’s business or with an early flight to catch, prefer to find accommodation in this part of the city.
